Audiovisual Authors of management societies engaged in the defence of authors’ rights have been called this December to a meeting with the Brazilian Secretary of Authors’ Rights, who has announced the permit of habilitation needed for the collective management societies DBCA (Directors) and GEDAR (Screenwriters), to collect and distribute authors’ rights to their associate authors within the Federative Republic of Brazil, as well as, through international agreements with their sister societies will represent the Audiovisual Authors of the world in Brazil.

This is the result of a long struggle to protect their rights, that Brazilian Audiovisual Directors and Screenwriters have been carrying along not only at a national level but in all of Latin America as well, which has reached very high regional levels of growth year after year, lead and supported technically and economically by ADAL (Directors) and ALGyD (Screenwriters and Playwrights) Alliances.

We celebrate the cultural advance that Brazil has presented, emphasizing above all, the need of their Authors – and being an example to follow in the Latin American region.
